Artist Biography

Born and raised in Charleston, South Carolina, Vitne grew up a child of the beach, a lover of the sea. A dreamer.

First introduced to music as a child by violin, at a young age he discovered a natural affection for the flute, sparking his interest for making music. Throughout his youth he enjoyed listening to the crooning and early rock n’ roll styles of Elvis Presley and was captivated by the music videos and live electricity of Michael Jackson, his first forays into popular music. In high school he began teaching himself bass and guitar and played in a number of bands throughout high school and college, each making a small mark on the local scene, but he always strove for more. It was during this time he discovered the heavy rock of the 80s.

Fascinated by the image and attitude, Vitne soon developed a deep appreciation for American glam metal as well as Japanese rock and visual kei, influences that can be heard and seen in much of his own work. Bands like Mötley Crüe, Kiss and X Japan have consistently been heavy influences over the years, especially solo artists like Billy Idol and GACKT.

In 2013 Vitne launched his solo career with the release of the 4-song Not Far From Shallow Water EP, featuring two music videos directed by Vitne himself. Growing up during the high time of MTV, he feels strongly about the importance and impact of music videos. Both Not Far From Shallow Water and Destroyer won ‘Best Music Video’ awards from the Akademia Awards in 2013.

December 3rd 2013, Vitne released his debut solo album entitled Neon. The album was recorded in multiple countries (Norway, USA, France, Germany, Canada) and was mixed by Matthew Sean Reynolds and mastered at Tokyo CD Center in Tokyo, Japan by Takanori Yamaguchi. The album spawned 5 singles, 4 music videos, and received highly positive reception.

December 10th, 2014 will bring the release of his newest single, "Winter Love Song," the definitive ballad for this year's Winter blues.

In addition to this new single, Vitne has confirmed the recording of a new EP is underway and scheduled for a 2015 release along with multiple singles throughout the year.

Vitne broke onto the scene last year with the release of his debut full-length album Neon.  The album spawned 4 music videos, one of which won “Best Music Video” by the Akademia Awards in August ’13 (“Destroyer”), and garnered overall high praise from critics.  In response to Neon, Visual Kei Heaven wrote, "Overall, VITNE's modern-day take on a classic genre is a successful endeavor that shows that he has much potential," and Sleazeroxx said Neon “…is as relentless as it is amazing. As toe-tapping as it is headbanging and air guitar invoking as it is stirring.”
