Press Release

Another Country is the fourth single from UK band Heavyball and their first release since signing to UK independent record label Magnetic North. It’s instantly engaging by building layers and depth that rewards repeat listens. A very personal song, the lyrics and melodies depict experiences and emotions which are universal wherever the listener is from.

Another Country showcases the Nottingham bands broad range of influences both tonally and lyrically. Those influences include, Johnny Cash, Toots and the Maytals and Fleetwood Mac. It marks a musical progression and development from the hugely popular Black Eye Friday (released earlier in the year). Another Country is the sound of a band who feel safe to explore their creativity and develop a unique sound. Heavyball have taken traditional UK ska and fused it with contemporary rock to create their own sound of 'new tone'.

The single and the band are championed by influential BBC 6 DJ Chris Hawkins and has received extensive airplay. Heavyball have just returned from a successful European tour promoting the single and are in the process of writing the debut album.

The video is shot in Ethiopia by Sameer Patel; it is visually rich and diverse and differs from the stereotyped images shown in the 1980’s. It presents an alternative interpretation of the songs meaning and very different imagery of ‘Another Country’?
